One of our CEO's most common urgings is that as a company we all need to Sharpen Fast. When new employees join the company, this is something they're told often. Get up to speed quickly so you can drive your own projects to fruition. Jed has really made this a staple in our company culture.
We have canvases across our offices encouraging us all to remember these words, and we even have Delphix branded knife sharpeners that we give away as gifts. The Delphix logo also happens to bear an uncanny resemblance to a shark's fin, so the shark has become a mascot of sorts for our company.
Our Sales Kick Off event was dubbed "Shark Week", our community forum is called the Shark Tank, and the names of our conference rooms include Great White, Black Fin, Hammerhead, Sand Tiger and Saw Shark.
The combination of these two ideas has recently sparked a magnificent pun: not only can we Sharpen Fast, but we Sharken Fast. It has quickly become a core part of our institutional philosophy. Jed knows from his previous startup experience that aggression and drive is critical to a business's ability to thrive.
It is that belief that has led us to lovingly term him the Apex Jedator. Our executives have taken this Sharken Fast initiative to heart so deeply, that they've begun integrating it into their workdays in a surprising way. They dress up as our shark mascot while at the office periodically, to inspire our development team.
