At Delphix, we are strongest when we bring together a diverse set of perspectives and experiences and enable everyone’s voice to be heard and respected. We are committed to hiring and supporting diverse teams, and to building an inclusive environment.

In a previous article I talked a bit about my personal journey and that of Delphix in the context of diversity and inclusion. We’re only part way down that road, but I wanted to take the opportunity to share our diversity and inclusion charter to give insight into our approach and help others that may be starting their own similar journey.

Our D&I homepage starts with this preamble:

Diversity means respect for, and appreciation of, differences between us — both visible and invisible (including ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, disability, race, sexual orientation, education, socioeconomic background and religion). But it’s more than just checkboxes — we are strongest when we bring together diverse perspectives, work experiences, lifestyles and cultures.

If diversity is getting invited to the party, inclusion is being asked to dance. Bringing diverse voices and perspectives to the table accomplishes nothing if they are not welcomed and heard. Inclusion means being valued, respected, and supported, such that everyone can achieve their full potential.

From here, the remainder of this post is verbatim the diversity and inclusion charter at Delphix. A very special thanks to Sacha Thompson, who authored the initial charter, as well as Manju Abraham, Anastasiya Dubrovina, Mindy Parker, and Ruth Welch for providing feedback throughout the process!

Vision

Fostering an environment where employees, with varied perspectives and experiences, unite together to create a better world.

We are strongest when we bring together a diverse set of perspectives and experiences and enable everyone’s voice to be heard and respected. With this belief and our core values in mind, we are committed to hiring and supporting diverse teams, and to building an inclusive environment that leverages that diversity for the benefit of the company and our individual employees.

Mission

To build a community that encourages its members to be their authentic selves and strives to inspire, enable, empower and support each other to reach new heights.

We want a place where everyone feels safe and supported in sharing their authentic selves. Where everyone feels they have an equal and fair chance to grow and advance their career. Where they are confident they can express their opinion and trust that their contributions are valued and recognized. We want diversity and inclusion for everyone, and we are particularly mindful of and focused on the challenges of underrepresented and disadvantaged groups that face systemic impediments to their success.

Objectives

To bring our vision and mission to life, we commit to the following long-term objectives:

  • Hire and retain diverse talent across teams by removing bias in our processes, enabling a supportive, inclusive environment, and providing career development opportunities

  • Establish metrics and demonstrate measurable continuous improvement

  • Deliver meaningful progress against a shared set of D&I goals and initiatives

  • Maintain a culture of accountability for D&I success, especially from senior leadership

  • Work to remove systemic impediments that prevent career advancement of underrepresented groups

  • Be known as a company that welcomes and supports employees of different backgrounds

  • Do not accept the status quo by exceeding diversity and inclusion industry expectations

The objectives serve as guiding principles for our roadmap, goals, and initiatives that we take on.
