Delphix and VMware Team to Extend On-Premises Data Virtualization to VMware vCloud Air

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 25, 2014 - VMworld(r) 2014 - Delphix, a leader in virtual data management, today announced a new solution to enable customers to accelerate adoption of the cloud for application development and testing. Managing ever-growing data volumes is a challenge for enterprises moving to the cloud, and Delphix eases and improves the process of hybrid cloud data management. The solution includes the Delphix Virtual Data Platform operating within VMware software-defined data centers and VMware vCloud(r) Air(tm).

Delphix virtual data has already enhanced VMware-powered data centers for more than 100 of the Fortune 500. These customers deliver application projects 50% faster, with 90% less hardware costs and a 20% reduction in errors compared to unvirtualized data centers. These benefits can now be extended from VMware-powered data centers to VMware's public cloud, VMware vCloud Air. Delphix virtual data engines run within vCloud Air, enabling creation of development and test environments from on-premises systems. In addition, with Delphix Agile Masking, confidential data can be masked and obfuscated (e.g. scrambling customer credit card numbers for PCI compliance) prior to syncing into the cloud, minimizing data risk before data moves outside of secure data centers. Delphix can seamlessly sync data between on-premises and cloud-based software engines, providing a single layer for data management.

Delphix and VMware customers can benefit from:

  • Seamless data management across the data center and the cloud, even for large multi-terabyte databases
  • Ability to burst development and test environments in the cloud to meet project demands
  • Improved security and compliance by allowing only masked data moves from production systems to cloud development environments.

"With cloud technologies deconstructing traditional data center management, CIOs require a secure, efficient, and hybrid approach to data," said Jedidiah Yueh, CEO of Delphix. "Delphix extends VMware solutions by efficiently securing and syncing data across data centers and the public cloud."

"Data is a key business enabler," said Ajay Patel, Vice President of Applications Services, vCloud Air, VMware. "Delphix and VMware vCloud(r) Air(tm) empowers customers to seamlessly create a hybrid environment for testing and development, backup and disaster recovery, and archiving with on-demand data management, wherever data initially resides."

The Delphix Virtual Data Platform is available today for use within VMware vCloud Air. The solution will be demonstrated during VMworld in San Francisco, August 24-28, in the PHC7 vCloud Air Application Services Booth. Delphix is a member of the VMware Technology Alliance Program.
